Prevention of disease, rejuvenation of our body’s systems, extension of life span and mental stability are the pillars of AYURVEDA. Ayurveda is India’s traditional, natural system of medicine that has been practiced for more than 5,000 years.

More than a mere system of treating illness, Ayurveda is a science of life (Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge). It offers a body of wisdom designed to help people stay vital while realizing their full human potential. Providing guidelines on ideal daily and seasonal routines, diet, behavior and the proper use of our senses, Ayurveda reminds us that health is the balanced and dynamic integration between our environment, body mind and spirit. Whenever there is any imbalance of three dosa’s (Vata, Pitta, Kafa) Ayurveda recommends the use of herbal products which are safe and without any side effects to bring back the balance.

About Your Yoga Instructors......
Tiffany Lenau
has been practicing yoga for 17 years. She draws her inspiration from the wisdom of many teachers and traditions. Tiffany's first love is Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. She received her 200 hour certification in '05 at It's Yoga in San Francisco with Larry Schultz. She is presently working on her 500 hour certification in Kripalu Yoga. Tiffany has been teaching in Petoskey and Harbor Springs since her certification and opened Yoga Roots in November of '07. She began teaching Kids Yoga has received positive feedback from both parents and kids. She is passionate about teaching Yoga to youth; she knows from experience how yoga can enrich the lives of children and teens.

Tiffany has seen many lives changed through the healing power of yoga. She considers herself blessed to be sharing the gift of yoga with her students, empowering them to find healing within themselves. Tiffany's classes are focused on breath and a comfortable flow. She understands that every person is different and encourages her students to tap into their internal wisdom and do what feels right for their body.

Nancy Sherman holds a 200 hour certification in Interdisciplinary Yoga from the Nosara Yoga Institute. She is presently working towards her 500 hour certification with some emphasis in Kripalu Yoga. Nancy is a Certified Massage Therapist with specialties in Pranassage, Reiki Energy work and Lomi Lomi, traditional Hawaiian Bodywork. She is a Certified Mat Pilates Instructor from the Physicalmind Institute and has spent many hours training with Jennifer Kries and Stott Pilates.

Nancy's passion is to heal, inspire and motivate others in the art of authentic living. She believes that enriched peace and the resulting healing are possible through integrative bodywork and the ancient methods of yoga, dance, meditation and breathwork. When the body is relaxed, you are better able to experience a sacred silence that allows the body's wisdom to be heard.

Cacia McClain has been practicing yoga for ten years and began practicing Anusara Yoga in 2005. She immediately connected with the heart-opening nature of Anusara Yoga and found the Universal Principles of Alignment created by John Friend to be effective in healing injuries and deepening the yogic experience. Her study of Anusara Yoga has brought her joy and inspired her to teach with grace and love. In 2009 she received her 200-hour Hatha Yoga Certification through Deep Peace Yoga with Todd Norian and Ann Greene following a 108-hour Anusara Yoga Immersion. She has completed over 100 hours of Anusara workshops with teachers throughout the country including Neesha Zollinger, Amy Ippoliti, Desiree Rumbaugh, and Sarajoy Marsh.

Cacia’s classes will offer a range of poses for all ability levels focusing on alignment, awareness of breath, and taking a yogic attitude in daily life. Part of living with a yogic attitude means celebrating the good in all people and things as well as honoring our unique differences and supporting one another on the path to joy. Cacia encourages students to open to grace and step into their own greatness through the practice of yoga.

Mary Anne Mann has been practicing yoga for approximately twenty (20) years.  Yoga and meditation is now an integral part of her life.  She received her 200-hour Yoga certification through Johnny Kest’s Center for Yoga in 2009 and has been teaching ever since then. In addition she has completed Anusara workshops under Desiree Rumbaugh. She is also American Red Cross certified in CPR.

Her main teaching style is based upon Slow Flow Yoga which uses the complete yoga breath and eyes closed to focus the student’s attention inward. The combination of breath and focused attention brings great ease to the body and mind, as it releases tension that is often the root cause of illness.  She teaches with an awareness of the mind-body connection.  When we connect with our breath we strengthen our connection to our Inner Selves to allow tension to dissolve and healing to occur.
